JOHNSTON is a popular fast-growing Village measuring just over a mile long, which lies on the A4076 main road running between Haverfordwest and the port of Milford Haven. It was founded as a small farming and mining Village before 1801 when just 99 residents lived in the Village. The population steadily grew to 600 by 1951, and almost doubled in the next 10 years to 1133. Since then, Johnston has had a steady increase in population due to the many new Housing Estates which have been built throughout the Village. The Village boasts many amenities, namely an Off-Licence Fruit 'n' Veg Shop, Post Office, Bakery, Doctor's Surgery, Fish & Chip Shop, Indian Restaurant, Chinese Take-Away, Fishmongers, Petrol Station with 24-hour opening, Hairdressing Salon, Chemist and 3 MOT Garages. Also, in December 2012 a Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church was opened. There is a Baptist Chapel in Glebelands as well as a Church on the corner of St. Peter's Road and Church Road.

Johnston has 5 Pubs - The Vine Inn with Restaurant, The Silverdale - also a Hotel & Restaurant, The Windsor Hotel - a Hotel & Restaurant, The Railway Inn and Johnston Country Club.

With its busy bus route timetable, and conveniently located railway station, Johnston is a very busy Village. Buses run to Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Neyland and Tenby.
