JOHNSTON is a popular village measuring just over a mile long, situated on the A4076 between Haverfordwest and Milford Haven. Founded as a small farming and mining Village, the population has grown from just 99 in 1801 to over 2000 today. Johnston boasts wide-ranging amenities, including Off-Licence Fruit 'n' Veg Shop, Post Office, Bakery, Doctor's Surgery, Fish & Chip Shop, Indian Restaurant, Chinese Take-Away, Fishmonger, 24 hour Petrol Station, Hairdressing Salon, Chemist and 3 MoT Garages. Also, there is a Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church, a Baptist Chapel, and St. Peter's Anglican Church. There are five pubs - The Vine Inn & Restaurant, The Silverdale Hotel & Restaurant, The Windsor Hotel & Restaurant, The Railway Inn, and Johnston Country Club.
Johnston is well-connected via public transport. Buses run regularly to Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Neyland and Tenby. Johnston railway station is on the main line between Milford Haven, Swansea, Cardiff and London.
Johnston Community Council. Regular meetings of the Community Council are held at 7pm on the second Monday of each month (except August), unless otherwise advertised. The venue is the Village Institute, Church Road, Johnston SA62 3EY. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Monday 11th February 2019. For legal reasons, members of the public may not address or participate in meetings. However, a ten minute public forum is included in each regular meeting, for residents to raise issues of concern.

NETWORK RAIL PROPOSED BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, MERLIN'S BRIDGE. Pembroke Road at the railway bridge will be closed from 20:00 on Friday 18 January 2019 to 06:00 on Monday 21 January 2019. The A4076 at Milford Road railway bridge will then close from 19:00 on Friday 15 February 2019 until 06:00 on Monday 18 February 2019. This is for planned work by Network Rail to replace / raise both bridges.
